Formulas showing R and C format

[confused in Frankfurt]

All of a sudden my formulas look strange

Sum(a1:b2) is usual now all my formulas look more like sum(C(-42)s:C(-1)s)

I don't know how this happened, need urgent help to change back

Tools > Options > General tab, untick R1C1 reference style

In Excel 2003 and prior, Tools > Options > General, untick R1C1 reference style

In 2007+, Excel Options, Formulas, ~

tried to untick - message box states the name conflict

That means you have a defined name that looks like an A1 cell reference. Find it and change the name.

What version of Excel are you using?
