I have some large datasets I need to manipulate with some more complex pivot tables (1.5mil rows in one table, 500k rows in another, etc). I know I need to use Power Pivot- but have some general questions about it...
The raw data requires me to look at every cell in multiple columns, and if the value is >0, then assign a new value of '1' to it (or '0' if it's <0). Is this something I do right after I import the data? Or do I do the basic import/transform stuff first, then import into a data model... then use formulas to assign new values, do some math calculations, etc on it then? Ultimately it will all end up in a series of pivot tables.
I guess my main confusion is where/when do I perform calculations/formulas on the data when using Power Pivot?
I've watched multiple videos- and they all do basic stuff upon importing (changing field types, # of decimals, etc). They never show doing any kind of more complex calculations/formulas to manipulate & use the data...
Can someone explain the basic concepts on this for me?
