I would like a macro that retrieves the file name and then truncates a certain number of characters off of the beginning and end. Say 10 on the left and 5 on the right.

Excel Facts

How to fill five years of quarters?
Type 1Q-2023 in a cell. Grab the fill handle and drag down or right. After 4Q-2023, Excel will jump to 1Q-2024. Dash can be any character.
Something like this?
Code:
Sub filename()

Dim a As Integer
Dim b As Integer
Dim File As String

a = 10
b = 5
File = ThisWorkbook.Name
File = Mid(File, a + 1, Len(File) - a - b)

Msgbox File

End Sub

Assuming you need an active workbook name:

Code:
MsgBox Mid(ActiveWorkbook.Name, 11, Len(ActiveWorkbook.Name) - 15)

Both work great!! Thanks :) I needed the "path" instead... Here's my final code for my reference:

Code:
Sub File_Path()
Dim a As Integer
Dim b As Integer
Dim File As String

a = 10
b = 5
File = ThisWorkbook.Path
File = Mid(File, a + 1, Len(File) - a - b)

ActiveCell.FormulaR1C1 = File

End Sub
