Getsetting, Save Setting: Where is the value

In Excel, I could use the functions GetSetting ad Save Setting to read and save a value in a registry.

Is there a way to found where is the localisation of the registry?

I want to try to communicate between two softwares some data using this concept.

Any help appreciated

A mention, the project is to communicate info between Excel and another software.

Is there other solution than SaveSetting and GetSetting to exchange short informations to another software application?
