I have looked on the web and read a few places and they all say it is plug and play. Set focus on a text box and just scan. The plug part works OK but it does not seem to want to play. Anyone had experience using barcode scanners for input?

Excel Facts

Move date out one month or year
Use =EDATE(A2,1) for one month later. Use EDATE(A2,12) for one year later.
The scanners usually input as a keyboard emulator. So, that's why they say that it is plug and play. But you would need a driver installed for that barcode scanner. Have you installed it?

Yes, when I plugged the scanner in it auto-installed. However I cannot see it in windows explorer.

Do you see your computer's keyboard in Windows Explorer (I think not). It is just like having another keyboard. So, for one, you can't be typing when scanning. It should pass the information into the text box (provided the drivers were set up properly - and make sure you did install the software that comes with it and not just use the default drivers that install when you plugged it in). Otherwise it probably won't act the way you need it to act.

You should probably read the documentaion for your specific scanner. It should tell you how to use it. What make and model is it?

It is a Follett, model 3800g, Adaptus 5.0. I will check with the client re documentation.

This model scanner requires actually touching the barcode. All works well now. Thanks for your input.
