Is anyone familiar with a goal function in excel? Currently I have 6 rows that make up my total percentage. I know 5 values, but would like the 6th to automatically populate so that the total percentage is 100. I know I could simply doe a 1-(sum of previous 5 values), but was hoping to get to the number a different way.

Thanks

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
You can use in A7

=SUM(A1:A6)

then use goalseek to change A6 to meet your target. That seems to me a very convoluted method to derive a value that is easily calculated :)

Ha ha...I agree, it does seem like the formula is the easiest way to get to what I need it to be. I've never used goalseek before....how does it work?
