Google sheets: formula the references cell in different workbook/ file

I have two different Google Sheets Workbooks. There is a list of names and responses in each workbook. One is a contact list, the other a response form. I am trying to do a MATCH lookup between the two workbooks ie =MATCH(cell in workbook1,column in workbook 2). Goal is to see which contacts have submitted a response.
