Got a Problem

Excel Facts

Format cells as time
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+2 to format cells as time. (Shift 2 is the @ sign).
A variable named USC (Dimensioned as String) and then assigned the value "Southern Cal" works to perfection. Can you clarify your problem?

I'm sorry but I was wrong on this. I should have said you can't use something like USC1 since it is a column/cell.

When you enter the named range it should be:
Name: USC
Refer to: ="Southern Cal"

This works for me. Does this help?

Southern California 13 930 6.96% 71.54 4.63%

USC 53.5 49 87.60% 35 -3.34%

i'm dealing with data from various sources, and i want to combine the data

i want excel to recognize that when a cell is =southern california, it is also equal to USC

I'm afraid I don't follow this very well. Look at the signature block and use the HTML maker to provide a screen shot of what you have and what result you desire.
