Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
It is possible using code to allow existing group buttons to work but not to add or remove groups if that's what you want.

Is it just one sheet you want it to work for, or all of the sheets in the workbook? For all sheets, put this into the ThisWorkbook module of your workbook:

Code:
Private Sub Workbook_Open()
    Dim ws                    As Excel.Worksheet

    For Each ws In ThisWorkbook.Worksheets
        ws.EnableOutlining = True
        ws.Protect Password:="your password here", userinterfaceonly:=True
    Next ws
End Sub
