I currently have a spread sheet that I use to track our return shipipng tags. I have been asked to provide a report that details the items and quantites being returned by month. When i attempt to group the DATE SENT data in the pivot table i get the "CANNOT GROUP THAT SECTION" error. I have reformatted the column and filled in any blank cells and still get this error. Please let me know what I am doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to The Board.
Grouping is not allowed if Excel believes that one or more of the cells does not contain the correct data type.
However, it seems as though you have tried to sort that by making sure that the column (in the data source) only contains dates. Did you 'refresh' the pivot table?
I have sometimes found it difficult to persuade Excel that it has been corrected and that it is often better to group that field before adding other data to the pivot table.
Try creating another pivot table from that data (perhaps in another workbook) and, just using the one column of data, try to 'group' that and see what happens.

Did you specify the source of your pivot as just the rows with data in, rather than using say the whole column?
