Grouping in Pivot Table

I have a pivot table with some expected dates of product. I want to try to group those dates by month but when I righ click on the date cell in the excel pivot table, I can't get the Group and Outline to pop up. It just gives me a group.

Not altogether clear... is the "expected date" a Field on the Row / Column Axis ? (rather than being a Data Field)
