Greetings,

I've setup a number of spreadsheets for our clients in an attempt to automate that way we process payroll within our company. I stumbled across Data Form Entry and thought this would be perfect. I was wondering if it were possible to manipulate the form itself and how it handles data. Our payroll software allows us to import .csv. Would excel be the best solution in this particular case?

(i have no VB experience whatsoever so i've had to solely rely on functions within excel)

Not everything I do at work revolves around Excel. Only the fun parts.
Without seeing what you have and the data that you will receive how you want to control the input it is difficult to answer. If you would like to post more details we would be able to help.

My Apologies. . . .i'll upload an example. . . .

The file will consist of approximately 8-12 Columns (depending on customer and type of operation)

1. Acct #
2. Name Key (Vlookup cannot be changed)
3. Date MMDDYYYY
3. JobID
4. Job Description (cannot be changed)
5. CostID
6. Cost Description
7. Wage Type
8. Piece Hours (zero by default)
9. Unit/Regular Hours
10. OT hours
11. DT hours

So would the data be stored on another sheet that is appending the data each time the form is used?

Here is just a worksheet with the headers of information that is needed.

well i would think not in this particular case. I do have something similar to this where the client inserts payroll info on 1 page and a "import" file is being created in the background on another worksheet (Included in pictures)

I figured the Data Form Entry Screen Would alleviate the need for any "Interface" and it would generate a neat spreadsheet that could easily be imported into our payroll software using only 1 worksheet
