Help!! my boss needs this ASAP

I need some help. I have 2 choices ( + and -) and I need to put them in a sequence of 5. is there a formula or anything that can tell me these?

something like this:
+ - - - -
+ + - - -
+ + + - - -
- - + + -
- - - + + ....etc. what are the possibilities? how can i find them out without human error??

What do you mean "tell me these"?

Tell you how many possibilities there are?

2^5 = 32

ok. so there is 32 choices. is there a formula to calculate all of these 32 choices? or a vba code?

Press ALT + F11 to open the Visual Basic Editor. Select Module from the Insert menu then paste into the white space on the right

Press ALT + Q to close the window.

On a blank sheet in A1 enter C or P depending whether you want Combinations or Permutations.

In A2 enter 5

In A3:A7 enter +

In A8:A12 enter -

Click in A1, press ALT + F8, click List Permutations then click the Run button.

thats awesome youve been a great help so far- it returned 30,000+ lines, but i see that alot of the lines are repetitive. for example i see : - - - + + numerous times. does the vba need to be changed?

If you have five variables listed in columns A through E, you can enter these formulas in columns F through J respectively to get every possible combination of the variables:

You need to read Myrna Larson's instructions more carefully than I did :)

To use it, you put the letter C or P (for combinations or permutations) in a
cell. The cell below that contains the number of items in a subset. The Cells
below are a list of the items that make up the population. They could be
numbers, letters and symbols, or words, etc.
