I want to calculate the mins between them

If I so a straight subtraction I get a

Can anyone please advise?

Excel Facts

How to find 2nd largest value in a column?
MAX finds the largest value. =LARGE(A:A,2) will find the second largest. =SMALL(A:A,3) will find the third smallest
Hi Dannyh1,

You get this when the result of the substraction is a negative time.

In that case add date also:

Cell A1 : 08-04-2010 01:23:23
Cell B1 : 08-03-2010 12:46:08

Simply substract the times now, you will get the desired result. Hope this helps.

Assuming times in A2 and B2 and that B2 is always later you can just subtract with

=B2-A2

format result cell as h:mm
