help with dissecting a cell

HI all, I have a cell that has descriptions in it and item number the info looks like this:

7999 - 1/8" wrench with spool
88888 - thread for widgets

I would like to set up a column with just the item # and another with just the description that comes after the "-" so it would look like this

Column 1 Column 2
7999 1/8" wrench with spool
88888 thread for widgets

Is there a formula to accomplish this?

You could do a Text to Columns using "-" as the delimiter. Data->Text to Columns

Column 1 =LEFT(A1,FIND(" ",A1))
column 2 =MID(A1,FIND("- ",A1)+2,50)

copy down as needed
