help with math formula please?

I'm having trouble figuring out the correct formula to take 15% off a price in a cell.

My calculator says that $11.95 - 15% is $10.16
But when I do =(C2-15%) I get $11.80

How do you make it subtract 15% instead of 15 cents?

=C2*0.85

Your formula is actually translating the 11.95 into 1195 percent, then subtracting 15% from it leaving 1180 percent, or 11.80

Thank you. It works now but do you know why when I try and drag down that formula its not calculating the new price for each cell?

I have a row of prices to take 15% off of and its putting the same result in each cell.
$11.95 $10.16
$11.95 $10.16
$9.95 $10.16
$22.95 $10.16
$9.95 $10.16
$16.95 $10.16
$15.95 $10.16
$7.95 $10.16
$12.45 $10.16

Do you have calculation set to Manual?

Click Tools | Options | Calculation tab, check Automatic

Or you can leave it as manual and use F9 to force calculation.

Or it may be you anchored your reference as in -- C$2*.85
