I am trying to capture the exact amount of time my resource is spending on completing a task, a task might run into days as well. So I want to capture it as 1 day 7 hrs types.

For now I am capturing the date and time as 05/08/2011 22:51:00 in cell A1 and 06/08/2011 23:50:00 in cell B1 and manually calculating the difference of both the cells. Is there a way we can get this automated by a formula or a simple macro?

Why can't spreadsheets drive cars? They crash too often!
You might want to consider using a timer in a simple macro where you can start the timer and stop the timer with a click of a button.

However, it will be a very heavy task on your cpu. (eats up alot..)

A timer is good thing to have but I don't think I can really do it. I will have to go by the time stamp in the email which I get from my resource.

Thanks,
Karthik

Sorry. I'm not too sure how to go about this except for just calculating the time manually.
