Hiding more than 512 items from a Pivot Table Filter

Hi All

I have a a number of pivot table setup which details parts orders for customers over the past few years.

As part of this I have two pivot tables for returns/warranty items. I use a filter to pick which items appear in these pivots, however I've just hit the 512 item limit.

Is there a way around this?

I'm pretty versed on excel but a total greenhorn when it comes to VBA coding, so if the answer lies there please treat me like an idiot

You pick over 500 items by hand? Don't you have a flag to mark which items are to appear in the PivotTable ( in the source data )?

I do pick the items by hand, but I only add source data one month at a time so there are only a few items to pick out each month.

I don't use a flag as one of the design critera for the pivots is that the source data should require no alteration when added to the report each month.

Order number will contain Install or Warranty. However this is not foolproof as these are hand typed when orders are raised.

Oh dear. Can you exclude subsets of data so that the number of items is less than 512? You mention that the data list covers many years ... can you exclude old data?

So far the sheet only has 1 years worth of data in it, its literally the last month of FY10/11 thats pushed it over the edge which is frustrating, if it could have slipped under the 512 over the year it would have been great as I'll start a new report for FY11/12.

Looking like it may not be possible then.
