Hiding % symbol

I have a spreadsheet is part of a presentation document. The heading format is:

Item Units Quantity
XXX % 20
YYY Tons 10

My calculations are simplified if I format the percent cells to %, but that results in:

Item Units Quantity
XXX % 20%
YYY Tons 10

Is there any way to hide the % symbol and still have the cell formatted as percent?

I realize this is a small point, but it is really irritating me.

Thanks in advance

How to calculate loan payments in Excel?
Use the PMT function: =PMT(5%/12,60,-25000) is for a $25,000 loan, 5% annual interest, 60 month loan.
How does formatting as Percent simplify your calculations? Doesn't 20 formatted as Percent result in 2000%? A cell's number format only changes its appearance, not its underlying value.

Yes and no.

20 formatted as percent results in 2000%
20 entered into the cell formatted as % results in 20%

Thanks

So, why not just format the cell as .00 and show it as .20 ?

If you want an actual 20 in the cell, then you are going to have to divide by 100 in your formula somewhere to reflect that this is 20 percent instead of 20.
