Hiding writing in a box?

I have a spreadsheet where I need to put a bit of info in the individual rectangles- long enough where it goes over into the next couple of rectangles. Some however, for reason unknown to me, 'hide' behind the adjoining rectangle. You can see everything you've written if you click on the rectangle where you first started typing. Most however just keep going.

I've tried to see if there's a different format for the rectangles that have the text hidden or that keep going but they're the same. WHat do I do?!

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
If the cell to the right is completely empty, the cell on the left with the long text will overlap into the completely empty cell on the right.

If the cell on the right has anything in it (including just a space character which may make it appear empty but it's not), then the text from the cell on the left will be visually truncated (not overlap).
