How can I add the result of a subroutine as a variable in another sub (Vince)

Excel Facts

Add Bullets to Range
Select range. Press Ctrl+1. On Number tab, choose Custom. Type Alt+7 then space then @ sign (using 7 on numeric keypad)
Hi - functions can return values which you can use between subs.

For example,

Code:
Sub test1()

Dim currTime As Date
currTime = test2()

Debug.Print (currTime)

End Sub

Function test2() As Date

test2 = Now()

End Function

You can also use global variables such as:

Code:
Dim currTime As Date

Sub test1()

test2
Debug.Print (currTime)

End Sub

Sub test2()

currTime = Now()

End Sub

To add to the solutions of Dean, if you want to run a second subroutine with some input from the first one, you could also do the following:

Code:
Sub test1()
Dim currTime As Date

currTime = Now()

test2 (currTime)

End Sub

Sub test2(dtTime As Date)

Debug.Print (dtTime)

End Sub
