I am a new user of Excel and it is not playing very nice with me. In my spreadsheet, I have a row of dates. I want to transfer the most recent date from that row to another cell automatically. Is this possible. Please help me, I am lost.

Excel Facts

How to create a cell-sized chart?
Tiny charts, called Sparklines, were added to Excel 2010. Look for Sparklines on the Insert tab.
If you have a row of dates in cells A2 to X2 then the formula =max(a2:x2) will get you the most recent date.

If you want to ensure you only return dates that are before today's date then you can use:

=MAX(IF(A1:A10<=TODAY(),A1:A10))

confirmed with Ctrl+Shift+Enter. If this has worked, Excel will surround the formula with curly braces {}.

Best regards
