How do I lock certain cells in a worksheet and allow changes to other cells? Is their a protection option?

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.
Hi There

First set which cells are to be locked by pressing Ctrl+F1 on the cell in question, select Protection tab the uncheck locked.

Once you have all the cells you want unlocked protect the sheet by going to Tools>>Protect>>Protect Sheet you can enter an optional password.

Welcome to the board.
Select the cells you want to allow changes and through Format>Cells>Protection Tab uncheck the "Locked" option. After this password protect your sheet (Tools>Protection>Protect Sheet)
