I import a sheet that contains a position number.

The value is stored at #12 or #110 or #7

I want to pull this number into another sheet using VLOOPKUP - but without the #

Is there a simple way to strip the # from the cell?

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Either do a find/replace, or try something like:

<b>Excel 2007</b><table cellpadding="2.5px" rules="all" style=";background-color: #FFFFFF;border: 1px solid;border-collapse: collapse; border-color: #A6AAB6"><colgroup><col width="25px" style="background-color: #E0E0F0" /><col /><col /><col /><col /><col /></colgroup><thead><tr style=" background-color: #E0E0F0;text-align: center;color: #161120"><th></th><th>A</th><th>B</th><th>C</th><th>D</th><th>E</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">1</td><td style=";">#10</td><td style=";">Joe</td><td style="text-align: right;;"></td><td style=";">Position</td><td style="text-align: right;;">4</td></tr><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">2</td><td style=";">#4</td><td style=";">Ann</td><td style="text-align: right;;"></td><td style=";">Name</td><td style=";">Ann</td></tr><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">3</td><td style=";">#9</td><td style=";">Marie</td><td style="text-align: right;;"></td><td style="text-align: right;;"></td><td style="text-align: right;;"></td></tr><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">4</td><td style=";">#12</td><td style="text-align: right;;">Bob</td><td style="text-align: right;;"></td><td style="text-align: right;;"></td><td style="text-align: right;;"></td></tr><tr ><td style="color: #161120;text-align: center;">5</td><td style=";">#1</td><td style="text-align: right;;">Simon</td><td style="text-align: right;;"></td><td style="text-align: right;;"></td><td style="text-align: right;;"></td></tr></tbody></table><table cellpadding="2.5px" rules="all" style=";background-color: #FFFFFF;border: 1px solid;border-collapse: collapse; border-color: #A6AAB6"><thead><tr style="background-color: #E0E0F0;text-align: center;color: #161120"><th><b>Sheet1</b></th></tr></td></thead></table><br /><br /><table width="85%" cellpadding="2.5px" rules="all" style=";border: 2px solid black;border-collapse:collapse;padding: 0.4em;background-color: #FFFFFF" ><tr><td style="padding:6px" ><b>Worksheet Formulas</b><table cellpadding="2.5px" width="100%" rules="all" style="border: 1px solid;text-align:center;background-color: #FFFFFF;border-collapse: collapse; border-color: #A6AAB6"><thead><tr style=" background-color: #E0E0F0;color: #161120"><th width="10px">Cell</th><th style="text-align:left;padding-left:5px;">Formula</th></tr></thead><tbody><tr><th width="10px" style=" background-color: #E0E0F0;color: #161120">E2</th><td style="text-align:left">=VLOOKUP(<font color="Blue">"#"&E1,A1:B5,2,0</font>)</td></tr></tbody></table></td></tr></table><br />

I wanted to include something in the Index and Match formula :-)

I'm sure you can do something to look for the # character and then pull in the remaining characters.
