As I am new, and had posted a thread, how do you find out if and when it is answered. Is their some type of communication you receive or alert?

Go to the “User CP” menu.
Select “Edit Options” under “Settings & Options”.
Under “Messaging & Notification”, there is a box called “Default Thread Subscription Mode”.
Set this value to “Instant email notification”.

My recollection is that the setting Joe described is the default setting when you register, so you probably don't have to do anything. I guess the real test is: Did you receive emails to say that this thread and your other one had received replies?

Note that you don't get an email for every reply, only that a reply has been made since you last visited the thread. There may actually be several replies since your last visit, as is the case with this thread.
