Hi,

In Windows 7, how to always open a new instance of Excel when I double click an Excel file, rather than stacking the workbook into the existing instance?

Thanks.

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
I'm not certain about on W7, but on xp, you have to disable DDE. TYpi8cally it's located under the Tools > File Types, and then edit then you cnage the file type and edit the Open option and disable DDE.

It will use more ram, and you'll probably have difficulty copying and pasting between workbooks. Hope that helps.

If I disable DDE, will Workbook.Open method open a workbook in the same instance or in a seperate instance?

I want them to be in the same when opened with VBA.

Thanks.
