How to build loan accumulation spreadsheet?

Not sure what the correct name is for this kind of spreadsheet - which makes it difficult to do effective searches for it.

But how would I build a spreadsheet to record loans made monthly (at diff. interest rates) without a fixed repayment date and also keep running total due? Since the time since each component would change each day or each month, there must be a trick to keep recalculating according to the new number of months for each loan. Hope that's clear.

A template or guide to how I could build such a spreadsheet would be extremely helpful. Thanks.
