I need help from the experts on how to change cell pattern (color) in IF function if it the logic test is true. For example, if S3="Yes", then change the background color of cell S4 to green.

You need 'conditional formatting' - check it out in the help files, & post back if you need more...

(1.) Select S4.
(2.) Activate Format|Conditional Formatting.
(3.) Choose Formula Is for Condition 1.
(4.) Enter as formula:

=$S$3="Yes"

(5.) Activate the Format button.
(6.) Choose a color on the Patterns tab.
(7.) Click OK, OK.

If it is a macro that you wish to use, the correct syntax would be something like this:

If Range("S3").value= "Yes" then
Range("S3").interior.colorindex = 4
else
end if
