How to copy a conditional format from one screen to another

Hi Folks:

I have a bit of a problem - I have a template that I use to create a report - and within this template, I do all kinds of formatting and such ... when I populate the template, alternate lines are formatted grey and white, using a conditional format. But - when I copy the template to a new worksheet - I lose the conditional formats and also I lose the source sheet's line heights.

Is there an option to copy everything, including conditional formatting as well as line-heights?

Note: if I copy an entire worksheet - it does copy formats and conditional formats, as well as row height - but when I copy a range, it skips the aforementioned. I tried this as well just using Excel - specifying "All" in the paste special - same results.

Thanks in advance

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
Are you copying within the same instance of Excel? Because in both 2003 & 2010, if I stay within the same instance of Excel, I can copy conditional formatting from sheet-to-sheet w/in the same workbook and I can also copy CF from one workbook to another. <S>As far as copying row heights goes - I'm afraid I don't know of any direct solutions via the user interface. Any solution would involve using a macros.</S> Hey, I just learned something! :) If you select just cells then no, the row heights do not transfer in the paste. However if you select the entire row by clicking the row headers on the left, the yes the row heights do transfer.

I actually found the problem a second ago -

The problem is that the conditional formatting is based on an explicit cell - such as $D$2 but when I copy the data to a new sheet - it changes relative position and the condition becomes false.

Row height - I can solve using VBA
