How to extract certain text from one cell??

So if within one cell, there is text such as:
1957-01-02 46.20, how to extract the date and numeric value separately?

Use Space as the delimiter

yea, but a more dynamic formula will be better. I use =IF(OR(A17<>"",A17<>0),LEFT(A17,FIND(" ",A17))," "),
dont know if there are more efficient way cuz im dealing with very big data
