I would like to save the data from this graph in an Excel table.

But Excel keeps adding suffixes to make the headers unique.

EBikes.xlsx
BCDEFGHIJK
4Bicyclist Deaths by Helmet Use
5No HelmetHelmetedUnknownTotal
6Year #%#2%2#3%3#4%4Ratio
71994776971921079610048.5
819957839534411182810023.8
91996731962743076110024.0
101997785972333081110032.3
111998741981620075710049.0
Helmet v No Helmet
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
K7:K11K7=[@[%]]/[@[%2]]

The best solution I could think of is to put spaces around the "duplicate" headers.

EBikes.xlsx
BCDEFGHIJK
4Bicyclist Deaths by Helmet Use
5No HelmetHelmetedUnknownTotal
6Year #% # % # % # % Ratio
71994776971921079610048.5
819957839534411182810023.8
91996731962743076110024.0
101997785972333081110032.3
111998741981620075710049.0
Helmet v No Helmet
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
K7:K11K7=[@[%]]/[@[ % ]]

Is there a better way?

For some reason over the years I don't prefer #, $ & * in header names as they can cause errors while analyzing. Also, if possible, avoid spaces in table names or header names, even with sheet names. Using small & Caps (TestExample) combination to keep them readable is my hack.

I like it. It's better than my solution and it can work for more than a few columns, which mine can't.

Thanks

PS: But I think M$FT needs to expand the table architecture to include multi-row headers, like in my example, and multple totals rows.

Glad to help you and thanks for the feedback.

Even I do feel need of multilevel or multi-row headers when creating summaries but have to live with limitations until Microsoft choose to find some solution to it.
