I have a 20-digit cell that I need to copy to five 4-digit cells on another workbook.

I am just unaware of a way to (logically) select 4 digits, copy, paste, select the next 4 digits in the same cell, copy, paste...cont

The 20-digit cell does not have any delimiting variables. It's a solid 20-digit string.

How would I go about doing that using a macro?

Thanks in advance. I love this site. Fast responses with very helpful advice.

Excel Facts

VLOOKUP to Left?
Use =VLOOKUP(A2,CHOOSE({1,2},$Z$1:$Z$99,$Y$1:$Y$99),2,False) to lookup Y values to left of Z values.
In the destination sheet worksheet code module.

Code:
Private Sub worksheet_change(ByVal target As Range)
target.TextToColumns Destination:=target, _
        DataType:=xlFixedWidth, FieldInfo:=Array(Array(0, 1), Array(4, 1), Array(8, 1), _
        Array(12, 1), Array(16, 1))
End Sub

Note:- you will need to restrict the code to the cell(s) where you will be pasting the code(s).
