I have two spreadsheets: sheetbefore and sheetafter. on a 3rd spread i want to work out started/ stopped.

please could someone help with a formula. (a blank cell = 0)

I want to say countifs: if sheetbefore cell A2 is blank and if sheetafter cell A2 is >0
also another formula for
If sheetbefore A2 is blank and sheetafter A2 is >0

This formula isnt working=COUNTIFS('sheetbefore'!,A2,"*",'sheetafter'!,A2,">0")

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
The "*" makes the if say "if A2 has anything in it, count t" and not "if A2 is blank, count it"

=COUNTIFS(sheetbefore!A2, "", sheetafter!A2,">0")
