How to sumif using more than 1 criteria (OR not AND)

I am aware of the sumproduct & sum(if) array formula but these are using the operator AND between the criteria (meaning all criteria met).

I would like to know if there is a way to sum if just one of the criteria is met (e.g. OR)?

One option is of course to i.e. sumif()+sumif(), etc but I am thinking there might be a smarter way?

Thanks

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
It depends exactly what you want but you can use something like

=SUM(SUMIF(A1:A10,{"apple","orange"},B1:B10))
