Do you hate GETPIVOTDATA?
Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
How about:

Select cells K3:L3
Formula:
=COLUMN(K3)=MAX(IF($K$3:$L$3<=$P$1,COLUMN($K$3:$L$3)))
