From a text box to a cell is fairly easy. Right click text box>hyperlink>select cell.

I'm having trouble going the other way. Is this possible?

Tried to use a "defined name" hyperlink... but apparently you can't do this for text boxes or shapes?

My ultimate goals is to be able to move hyperlinks around without them being attached to cells. Therefore, if I put an image in a worksheet, I want to be able to drag a small text box (which will be my hyperlink) on top of the image so that I can cross-reference (hyperlink) to various parts of the image.

Are you trying to hyperlink between text boxes so you click on a text box and it jumps you to another box rather than a cell location? I dont think you can do that as hyperlinks link to cells.

Are you trying to zoom in on a section of an image - if so you could overlay freeform or other shapes over different bits of your image and hyperlink from these to different sections as zoomed images on different sheets and have a "Home" button on each which got you back to your master sheet. You could also add hyperlinks at the top, bottom and sides of each image to allow you to "navigate" between zoomed sections if that was wanted.

1) Yes trying to hyperlink between text boxes. Or create a macro that will jump to the different boxes.

2) How would I go about overlaying freeform or zooming in on my image? Zooming in on a portion of the image would be valuable, but how do I do this as you describe?

3) Yes, I definitely put hyperlinks on the sides of my image.. which is valuable :)

How I would do it is:

Insert your master picture as a picture in the master sheet and the zoomed images in separate sheets in the workbook

To put free forms in after you insert your master image use the freeform shape tool to draw a shape that roughly approximates to the area you want to be "live" in your image. This will produce a freeform in the standard default colurs (blue in my case)

What I would do then is to change the colour to something else - right click on teh freeform and select format to do this. You dont absolutely need to do this it just makes things a bit clearer at this stage.

Then draw the rest of the freeforms so you have a patchwork covering the entire master image

Right click each of the freeforms in turn and add in the hyperlink to a cell on the sheet with the relevant zoomed image

Then group all the freeforms AND THE BACKGROUND IMAGE

Then reformat all the freeforms to be transparent with no line

Add a shape to each of the zoomed image as a "Home" button

Then add a hyperlink to that shape to a cell on the master image sheet

At this point you can add left-right and up-down arrows at the edges of each image too with hyperlinks linking to the appropriate image or whatever.

You can also add hyperlinks to other files or documents but I have not figured an easy way to navigate back from pictures etc. (word documents etc are easy)

Do you have an example workbook you could send me? Are you essentially putting 1 master image and a bunch of smaller images on separate worksheets? Then to get to the smaller images.. you would click on certain parts of the master which will hyperlink you to a "cell" of the smaller?

Thanks, :)
