I have a document that I am adding lots of hyperlinks to. All of the hyperlinks are documents on my F: drive. Each time I begin adding the link to the document, Excel opens the hyperlink page where the document I am working on resides(C:). Which means I have to work my way thru several layers of folders and sub-folders with each added link. My question is can I make Excel open the hyperlink page on the same page...the one where I keep grabbing the links from....not the folder where the original document is saved? HELP!

Hi Austin,

You could try setting "Default file location". In XL 2000 it's under Tools > Options "General Tab".

Using code I believe it is Application.DefaultFilePath in case you want preserve and restore your original settings.

"Hyperlink Base" may also be worth studying. Help will tell you how, when and why you may want to use it.

Hope this helps.

Thanks....but nope. I tried that, and it only changes where the speadsheet is saved. I need the hyperlink dialog box to go straight to the folder where the previous hyperlink was located. That folder is the one with all of the documents I need to link to. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?

It works for me in XL 2000.

One possible workaround is to temporarily put the workbook in the same folder with the target files for the link. After you've created the links put the workbook back in its original location and use "HyperlinkBase" to correct the path.
