Good morning
I have a formula in a cell but I also want the option to use a drop down list if I need to to override the output of formula in the cell without losing the formula?

Excel Facts

Bring active cell back into view
Start at A1 and select to A9999 while writing a formula, you can't see A1 anymore. Press Ctrl+Backspace to bring active cell into view.
Any cell formula can only contain:
- a formula
- a hard-coded value
but NEVER both at the same time!

So I don't think you can override the result of the formula while maintaining the formula in the cell.
You will need to come up with a different plan. Maybe use multiple columns, i.e.
- column 1: contains formula
- column 2: contains override (if they enter a value)
- column 3: returns value of column 2, if not empty, otherwise return value from column 1

So then column 3 would have the final value you need in all instance.
