I submitted my first question yesterday and made a mistake that needs to be corrected. As I'm viewing my question today, I don't see the Edit Icon. Is there a special way of locating or viewing my message so that the system knows it is my message and provides the Edit Icon for me to click on?

You can only edit your question within the first 10 minutes of posting. The only way forward now is that you should reply back to your own message with the necessary clarification. Another advantage of doing so is that it will effectively bump your post back up the queue.
