IF Formula Help

[Excel_Assis]

I am using the following IF formula to select cell entries that are in a foreign currency from entries in US$.

=IF(LEFT(A1)="b",--MID(A1,2,25),A1)

This produces the following results.

As you can see I now in column B a mix of foreien currency and US$ but I can not add these.

Can you show me how to correct the formula so as it converts the foreign currency to US$ so all the values in column B are US$ and then I can add them.

It depends on the exchange rate.

Let's assume the "B" currency is worth 110% of non "B" currency.

=IF(LEFT(A3)="B",SUBSTITUTE(A3,"B","")*1.1,A3)

=IF(LEFT(A3)="B",SUBSTITUTE(A3,"B","")*B4000,A3)

T.Valko I do not think that is correct you can not multiply a number by B4000

You should change * to / i.e. instead of multiplying, divide the number to get your result.

I thought B4000 was a cell reference that contained the exchange rate.
