IF formula return as a dollar amount

Hi Everyone, and thanks again for a fantastic forum.

I have a simple question but can't seem to get through my brain fog.

Formula is

=IF(C4=H4,"389000","789000")

But the numbers need to be in a currency, not text so I can then use them to calculate. What am I doing wrong?

The quotation marks are telling Excel it is text.

=IF(C4=H4,389000,789000)

What do you mean ?
Did you try to either:

• Copy in the formula I sent you OR
• Remove the quotation marks from your formula

The actually appearance of the numbers as currency will happen when you format the cells containing the now numeric result as Currency.
