I know how to do an IF formula and a right formula but not combine them. Say the last letter in A1 is a P then I want the word "Petrol" or the last letter in A1 is a D then I want the result "Diesel" . Thanks

Excel Facts

Remove leading & trailing spaces
Save as CSV to remove all leading and trailing spaces. It is faster than using TRIM().
Are those the only 2 options P or D?

Try

=IF(RIGHT(A1,1)="P","Petrol",IF(RIGHT(A1,1)="D","Diesel",""))
