Is there a way to make an IF statement perform a calculation if a certain word is input into a cell? For example in cell E4 if YES is input then cell F4 performs a calculation, like C4*D4.

Any suggestions?

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.

In F4 enter:

=IF(E4="Yes",C4*D4,"")
