if statement with wildcard

Hello,

I've searched for this and I'm sure the answer is out there but I'm hitting crunch time.

Here is what I'm trying to do - I have a string of text in column D. I want to create an if statement to look at the first two characters and tell me if they start with "JC". If yes then return the value in column H.

I've tried =IF(D323="JC*",H323,0)

What about:

=IF(LEFT(D323,2)="JC",H323,"False")

You can change False to whatever fits your needs.
