Hi,

I have a user input a $ value for a project. The next cell over I have a validation drop down cell for the user to select a year the project will be installed. I want the next cells to divide the cost of the project based on what year it should be installed. But it should be flexible so that if the user changes the year, the cash flow can change again to flow through different years.

For example: User enter in cost of $100 and 2008.

I want excel to fill the 2008 column with $50 and 2009 column with $50.

Currently I just have an IF statement to get $100 into the 2008 column. How do I make it so excel can divide equally across several years.
=IF(H4="2008 Q1", F4/4, "") Is there an If... Then statement that can be used?

Any help is much appreciated!

Excel Facts

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
You might be sorry you asked, but here goes

In J13

=IF($G13>0,($G13/(1+$I13-$H13))*(IF((K$9-J$9-IF(K$9-1>$I13,K$9-1-$I13,0)-IF($H13>J$9,$H13-J$9,0))>0,(K$9-J$9-IF(K$9-1>$I13,K$9-1-$I13,0)-IF($H13>J$9,$H13-J$9,0)),0)),0)

where,

J9:BJ9 is a timescale (days, weeks, months - doesnt matter)

G13 is the value to be distributed

H13 is the start date for the distribution
I13 is the end date for the distribution
