Is there a way to write the following in a macro?

If cell begins with a 1 then do this...
If cell begins with a 2 then do this...

Thank you in advance for your help!

Excel Facts

Format cells as date
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+3 to format cells as date. (Shift 3 is the # sign which sort of looks like a small calendar).
You have a few options:
Select Case
or
If Statement

An example of an IF statement
Sub MACRO()
Dim cell As Range
Cells.EntireRow.Hidden = False
Range("A1:A" & [a65536].End(xlUp).Row).Select
For Each cell In Selection
If Left(cell.Text, 1) = "1" Then MsgBox ("C")
Next cell
End Sub
