Import and change tag data of hyperlinked files

Is it possible to import and change file tag data of files that are hyperlinked in an excel speadsheet?

Why do I want this? I am trying to set up a document management system, using Excel, that helps me to conform to requirements of the ISO9001 standard for quality management systems. For this I am creating an excel spreadsheet that hyperlinks to all the files and that displays all the relevant info about the file. Like document type, revision status, document owner, version number, publication date etc.
