I will have a file replete with XML code, or an XML file? I don't really know yet and I am certainly not an expert.

Is there a way to import this data into Access so that it appears in an organized format that I can decipher?

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
Access has an import feature for XML. If in 2007, go to External Data on the Ribbon and choose XML file. The wizard will walk you through the rest. If you don't have 2007, I am sure it is supported but don't know where it is at.

In 2003 (and prior) do File / Import, and on the dialog box, change Files of Type on the bottom to XML.
