Increasing a cell by one

I'm not sure how to describe my problem so let me just explain where I'm at:

I have a tab called "Master Sheet" that has formulated data from the year on it, in descending order. I then have a tab for each month, and within these tabs there are cell formulas that access the master sheet.

My problem is that they don't line up perfectly. For example in January, cell A1 says something like Mastersheet!A1+Mastersheet!C1. Ok, so far so good, but if I want to copy and paste that formula elsewhere in the spreadsheet, it tries to accomodate for me when I don't want it to.

Like I'll copy and paste that formula in A3 of the January tab and it will say Mastersheet!A3 when I really need it to say Mastersheet!A2. And then I'll paste it into A10 on January and it will say Mastersheet!A10 when I want it to say Mastersheet!A3

This might be an elementary question but is there a designation to force a formula to increase by one no matter where you paste it? Like I know dollar signs will keep part of a formula from changing when you paste it, is there something along those lines for increasing by one?

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
Essentially I just need a trick to copy and paste cells incrementally, without having them try to adjust for whatever row I'm pasting them in.
