Out of the following two formulas, first one works even with the source file closed, but the second one doesn't. Can somebody explain why?
=INDIRECT.EXT("'E:\Ali Land\MrExcel\Footscray Roster\[FSCY "&TEXT(I$2,"yy-mm-dd")&".xls]Weekly Roster'!$BF$8")

=IF(INDEX('Leave Approved'!$I$15:$IA$220,MATCH($A16,'Leave Approved'!$I$15:$I$220,0),MATCH(H$2,'Leave Approved'!$I$4:$IA$4,0))=1,-1,IF(OR((TODAY()+7-WEEKDAY(TODAY(),2)) < H$2,ISERROR(VLOOKUP($A16,INDIRECT.EXT(("'E:\Ali Land\MrExcel\Footscray Roster\[FSCY "&TEXT(I$2,"yy-mm-dd")&".xls]Weekly Roster'!$BF$7:$BG$201")),2,FALSE))),"",VLOOKUP($A16,INDIRECT.EXT(("'E:\Ali Land\MrExcel\Footscray Roster\[FSCY "&TEXT(I$2,"yy-mm-dd")&".xls]Weekly Roster'!$BF$7:$BG$201")),2,FALSE)))<?XML:NAMESPACE PREFIX = H$2,ISERROR(VLOOKUP($A16,INDIRECT.EXT(("'E /><H$2,ISERROR(VLOOKUP($A16,INDIRECT.EXT(("'E:\Ali p ?&TEXT(I$2,?yy-mm-dd?)&?.xls]Weekly Roster\[FSCY Land\MrExcel\Footscray Roster?!$BF$7:$BG$201?)),2,FALSE))),??,VLOOKUP($A16,INDIRECT.EXT((??E:\Ali QUOTE]< Roster?!$BF$7:$BG$201?)),2,FALSE)))[>
Thanks

</H$2,ISERROR(VLOOKUP($A16,INDIRECT.EXT(("'E:\Ali>

Does the VLOOKUP table have to be sorted?
No! when you are using an exact match, the VLOOKUP table can be in any order. Best-selling items at the top is actually the best.
